LAA/Paralegal Hybrid Real Estate (Land Development)

RBS is looking for an intermediate to senior Legal Administrative Assistant/Paralegal Hybrid to join our Land Development team (Real Estate).
Essential Functions:
Assist with commercial acquisitions and sales of both raw land and existing real estate projects, including preparation of purchase and financing documents; prepare and manage commercial lending requirements and documentation.
Draft and assist with preparation of documents for real estate transactions including purchase agreements, disclosure statements/amendments, land charges, corporate and management agreements, leasing documents and other real estate related matters.
Conduct corporate searches, title searches, and other due diligence searches; report on due diligence; prepare LTO documents including statutory rights of way, easements, strata plan and subdivision filings.
Organize and manage mass residential development closings, duties of which include the maintenance of trust balances for deposits, using excel and merge systems, preparation of developer’s information packages and collection and management of closing documents for each strata lot.
Compose letters and routine correspondence; file management; maintain calendars and diarize dates independently.
Prepare accounts as related to transactions; manage trust accounting matters, cheque requisitions and deposits.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in BC Online; e-filing
Legal terminology and legal forms within the context of real estate law; familiarity with Real Estate Development Marketing Act and Strata Property Act preferred
Elite Accounting Software, FileSite (IManage DMS), Excel, Word and Outlook experience preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant and/or paralegal in a Real Estate Practice; conveyancing experience preferred
Skill Set
Excellent organizational and time management skills required
Reliable, responsible, self motivated and able to function independently, taking initiative where appropriate.
