10th Annual Battle of the Bar Bands

For nine consecutive years the CBA Benevolent Society has run an increasingly popular and competitive event at the Commodore Ballroom: The Battle of the Bar Bands. The Battle is truly a must-see / must-hear / must-experience event that brings together dozens of lawyers displaying incredible music and showmanship skills for over 900 enthusiastic audience members and supporters. The 2009 event raised in excess of $100,000 for the Society – a record!
About the CBA, from the CBA website:
The purpose of the Canadian Bar Association (BC) Benevolent Society (the “Society”) is to provide assistance to lawyers and articled students who have suffered an illness or injury. The Society was incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia on April 17, 1997.
The purposes of the Society are:
- to provide assistance to lawyers who have suffered an illness or injury arising from any cause whatsoever including but not limited to alcohol, drugs, stress and physical injury; and
- to provide assistance to the families of such lawyers and to other persons (including associates and employees) who are affected by such lawyers’ illness or injury.
